NEW YORK - Carlos Ghosn broke the news at the New York auto show on Wednesday, April 12th, 2006 that the next GT-R will be sold under the Nissan badge in the United States.

The all-wheel-drive turbocharged supercar is one of the most highly anticipated launches in history, having been covered and speculated on by nearly every automotive media outlet and has appeared on dozens of magazine covers.

Many speculated that the car would be more likely sold as an Infiniti, due to the car's high-end price.

Igor Sushko, a life-time GT-R enthusiast and the driver of the Nissan Skyline GT-R in SCCA Speed World Challenge GT Series commented: "I am extremely delighted by this news - it seemed all roads were leading for the GT-R to be sold as an Infiniti, especially due to the sticker price and necessity for quality customer and technical service. However, in the end, the Nissan Skyline GT-R has a long-standing legacy - a Nissan legacy. I know this was a difficult decision for Nissan to make, but it is one that is applauded by thousands of GT-R enthusiasts around the world."

The car is scheduled for launch in fall of 2007 in Japan, followed by the United States debut in 2008.
