California native Bill Auberlen and his No. 1 Turner Motorsports/H&R Springs BMW 325i managed a great launch to get by pole-sitter Randy Pobst and hold onto that lead for the win Sunday in the SCCA Pro Racing SPEED Touring Car Championship at the Infineon Grand Prix in Sonoma, CA.

It was a great day for racing, and for Lou Gigliotti in his No. 28 LG Pro Long Tube Headers Corvette C6. Just hours after taking the pole in the SCCA Pro Racing SPEED GT Championship, Gigliotti went on to score the 20th win of his World Challenge Career. The victory, at the Infineon Grand Prix in Sonoma, CA, was Gigliotti’s first since 1997 – breaking his 16-race winless streak.

Two-time defending SCCA Pro Racing SPEED Touring Car Drivers’ Champion Bill Auberlen, of Rolling Hills Estates, Calif., led the morning practice session in his No. 1 Turner Motorsports/H&R Springs BMW 325i with a time of 1:46.905 (85.197 mph) at Infineon Raceway, and then watched as his time held through the afternoon practice session of the Infineon Grand Prix of Sonoma Presented by Ravenswood Winery.

Leighton Reese, of Minnetonka, Minn., posted the fastest time of two SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge GT practice sessions Friday, taking the top spot in his No. 6 Banner Engineering Corvette C6 with a mark of 1:41.561 (89.680 mph) on the 2.53-mile course at the Infineon Grand Prix of Sonoma Presented by Ravenswood Winery, site of the seventh round of the 2005 SPEED GT Championship.
