Ferrari Californiaiceracer1 02-03-2012, 04:54 PM After I finished the Yamaha V-max, I had to build a car again. But I needed 3 days to find out which one :D I picked this Revell Ferrari California from the pile. http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_%281%29_%28Custom%29~14.JPG http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_%282%29_%28Custom%29~14.JPG http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_%283%29_%28Custom%29~14.JPG http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_%284%29_%28Custom%29~13.JPG http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_%285%29_%28Custom%29~13.JPG I've seen other people build this car and it's a pretty good kit. But I wanted to add a few more details, so I bought some Hobby Design stuff. http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_%286%29_%28Custom%29~13.JPG http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_%287%29_%28Custom%29~13.JPG http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_%288%29_%28Custom%29~10.JPG http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_%289%29_%28Custom%29~8.JPG http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_%2810%29_%28Custom%29~7.JPG http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_%2811%29_%28Custom%29~7.JPG Grigio Alloy will be the color for this car: http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_%2812%29_%28Custom%29~5.JPG http://www.broughtons.co.uk/images/4x3/L/LJ09HFE.jpg Kris. andybmw7272 02-04-2012, 07:44 AM Awesome man! I cant wait to see what you do with this build. I started one of these after Christmas (black) with some ADV wheels. Was your hood warped when it came out of the box? Can't wait to see what you do with this one. I like your building style. Andy rallymaster 02-04-2012, 08:01 AM Another interesting build to follow ! iceracer1 02-04-2012, 08:43 AM Awesome man! I cant wait to see what you do with this build. Andy Yes my hood was a bit warped but i already bent it into shape. No heating was needed. Kris. ilferraristarosso 02-07-2012, 02:50 PM Hi, interesting project. Just curious to know where those Michelin tires come from. For my Cali i'm using Tamiya 360 Modena Pzero ones. Max  auw12 02-07-2012, 03:25 PM Hi, interesting project. Just curious to know where those Michelin tires come from. For my Cali i'm using Tamiya 360 Modena Pzero ones. Max  Looks like from Tamiya's porsche 996 carrera to me, you can use Fujimi's 599 tyres by the way, and I'm also curious about how the modena tyres turned out. A lot of works lying ahead, Keep it up Kris~ iceracer1 02-07-2012, 03:41 PM Hi, interesting project. Just curious to know where those Michelin tires come from. For my Cali i'm using Tamiya 360 Modena Pzero ones. Max  Yes I thought they were from the Tamiya Porsche 911 wheels. They are very tight on the HD wheels but they look good i think. These were the best tyres I had at this moment. Shame I recently sold my Modena wheels last month :D Kris. iceracer1 02-09-2012, 11:28 AM Yesterday I could primer the body after some sanding and panelscribing. http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/paint_%282%29_%28Custom%29~3.JPG http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/paint_%283%29_%28Custom%29~3.JPG http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/paint_%284%29_%28Custom%29~4.JPG http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/paint_%285%29_%28Custom%29~3.JPG And today I could add some of the nice paint on the body :D http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/paint_%286%29_%28Custom%29~1.JPG http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/paint_%287%29_%28Custom%29~1.JPG http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/paint_%288%29_%28Custom%29~1.JPG http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/paint_%289%29_%28Custom%29~1.JPG Kris. andybmw7272 02-09-2012, 11:33 AM That is a GREAT color!!!!!! Thanks guys :) I also really love the color. I sprayed it once on a Mini Cooper but that one is already in the bin.... :D I use this Tamiya scriber: http://www.bnamodelworld.com/images/kits/TM74015_.jpg Kris. iceracer1 02-16-2012, 09:38 AM Cleared it yesterday. I had some troubles and got some small drups on it. I hope I can sand them away and polish it out. http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/blanke_lak_%281%29_%28Custom%29~5.JPG http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/blanke_lak_%282%29_%28Custom%29~5.JPG http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/blanke_lak_%283%29_%28Custom%29~5.JPG http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/blanke_lak_%284%29_%28Custom%29~5.JPG http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/blanke_lak_%285%29_%28Custom%29~3.JPG http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/blanke_lak_%286%29_%28Custom%29~3.JPG Kris. rallymaster 02-16-2012, 10:05 AM Waow, great color ! bonnet already seems fine to me, can't wait to see it once polished. And panel lines deepened are just as needed, too. I bought the color for mine today... Weather is less cold so I may also paint mine soon. auw12 02-17-2012, 02:13 AM Lovely color! Zero's grigio alloy is amazing! F1-Fan 02-18-2012, 10:40 PM Great start and beautifull color! iceracer1 02-22-2012, 01:40 PM Yesterday I polished the body with several polishing compounds. Today I masked the body and windows to paint some black. http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/polish_%2B_ramen_%281%29_%28Custom%29~0.JPG http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/polish_%2B_ramen_%282%29_%28Custom%29~0.JPG http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/polish_%2B_ramen_%283%29_%28Custom%29~0.JPG http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/polish_%2B_ramen_%284%29_%28Custom%29~0.JPG http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/polish_%2B_ramen_%285%29_%28Custom%29.JPG http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/polish_%2B_ramen_%286%29_%28Custom%29.JPG Kris. rallymaster 02-22-2012, 01:47 PM Great work !! I should have purchased the windows templates, it helps ! :iceslolan Is your front badge a decal from the kit or an aftermaket badge ? it's very nice as all details very visible and appreciable on your color perfectly applied. Truth moment for mine not far anymore, may clear coat this evening, or tomorrow, don't want to hurry too much...! mistake is always possible ! corvettekid_7684 02-22-2012, 01:52 PM Looks nice! Great color & the Windows are excellent iceracer1 02-22-2012, 02:00 PM Great work !! Well I only used the template for the frontwindow. They still need to be cutted by yourself. But in my enthausiasm I made my own masks on all the other parts.... :D Then I saw the template masks laying on my desk :banghead: The badge on the previous pictures were a PE part with the Revell decal on it. I lost it after polishing yesterday, so I replaced it with a E-jan 3D decal (Model Factory Hiro). They are some of the best Ferrari badges at the moment. Kris. BVC500 02-22-2012, 02:24 PM Nice work. The badge is a little large i think, and the area underneath and around the license plate frame should be all black (if you're going for a stock look). rallymaster 02-22-2012, 02:43 PM Well I only used the template for the frontwindow. Thanks for your answer, may take a look at these MFH badges, they look great and are surely better than HD ones. Bought the HD Porsche badges but doubt to use them, none of them is neat and clean... iceracer1 02-22-2012, 03:19 PM Nice work. The badge is a little large i think, and the area underneath and around the license plate frame should be all black (if you're going for a stock look). I had to use the bigger badge because I had a glue spot from the previous badge. This one covers the spot. And BIG logos are trendy :D I'll leave the area around the license plate in color like it is now. Kris. MidMazar 02-24-2012, 12:25 PM E-jan 3D decal (Model Factory Hiro). They are some of the best Ferrari badges at the moment. :iagree: Im looking for the bmw ones they made a while back and can't find them. Coming along nicely Kris. Should be another stunning build from you. iceracer1 03-14-2012, 03:39 PM Well today I finished the interior. But first some W.I.P. of the interior. First I decided to use Flat Flash from Tamiya as main color, combined with black. The seats were painted and I added the PE seatbelt things. http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/interieur_af_28129_28Custom29.JPG http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/interieur_af_28229_28Custom29.JPG To use the mesh in the PE set I had to cut a piece out of the side panels. http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/interieur_af_28329_28Custom29.JPG The dashboard is a 2 piece part, but they doesn't fitt right. There is a very big gap between the parts. I sanded and cutted some plastic off, but they still doens't fitt tight. But the gap is now minimum and I can live with that.... it won't be noticed once all is finished. http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/interieur_af_28429_28Custom29.JPG The steeringwheel was painted black and I added the PE shift pedals. I also added a 3D logo from E-jan. http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/interieur_af_28529_28Custom29.JPG http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/interieur_af_28629_28Custom29.JPG The interior got some carpet and I added the midconsole and the rearseats. And last but not least the PE pedals were placed. http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/interieur_af_28729_28Custom29.JPG http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/interieur_af_28829_28Custom29.JPG http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/interieur_af_28929_28Custom29.JPG And finished: http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/interieur_af_281029_28Custom29.JPG http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/interieur_af_281129_28Custom29.JPG http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/interieur_af_281229_28Custom29.JPG http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/interieur_af_281329_28Custom29.JPG http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/interieur_af_281429_28Custom29.JPG Meanwhile I started on the chassis and engine. I also got the wheels painted, but they need some clearcoat before I can show them :) Kris. corvettekid_7684 03-14-2012, 04:35 PM Fantastic work! mattbacon 03-14-2012, 05:02 PM That's looking great... precise detail work, and a lovely body colour and finish. Full marks for using the PE pieces inside... that's real "because God can see" work... (my landlord used to insist that we cleaned on top of the bookshelves, even if no one could look on top, "because God can see" and it's now my description of work that you do because YOU know that it's there, even if no one will notice when the cabin's inside the body!) Keep it up! bestest, M. crisjr 03-15-2012, 11:40 AM Great Job!!.. really great.... love the interior.. everything little things fits perfectly.. andybmw7272 03-17-2012, 06:56 AM Nice Chris! That dash is a pain isn't it! I like the way you cut out the vents for the PE speakers grills. Nice work! Andy iceracer1 03-20-2012, 04:25 AM iceracer1 03-30-2012, 11:30 AM Finally another update of this model. I glued the lights in place, and made the PE grille in the frontbumper. It was not easy and after all I better used the original grille instead I think. But after some Aclad Chrome paint it still look OK to me. http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/lampen_28129_28Custom29.JPG http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/lampen_28229_28Custom29.JPG And I painted the engine parts. The exhausts are painted with different Aclad Metalizer paints. I really love the result but too bad it's not visible anymore.... http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/motorblok_28129_28Custom29.JPG http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/motorblok_28229_28Custom29.JPG http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/motorblok_28329_28Custom29.JPG http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/motorblok_28429_28Custom29.JPG http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/motorblok_28529_28Custom29.JPG The wheels are painted Slate Grey and I painted the wheelnuts in chrome silver. I added some 3D logos for the wheelcenters. After all I clearcoated them. I also added the discbrakes with PE parts. The calipers are painted yellow. http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/velgen_28129_28Custom29.JPG http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/velgen_28229_28Custom29.JPG Meanwhile it's almost completed, so the next update will be a completed California.k Kris.
