VW Jetta World Debut
The Volkswagen Jetta is clearly an important vehicle for Volkswagen of America. Not only is the Jetta the top-selling vehicle in their North American lineup, this is the place in the entire world where Jetta sells best. So when recent sales of the Jetta were plagued by quality and aging issues it’s not exactly surprising to find out that the collective sales of the Volkswagen brand in this country followed downward. Now, bent on returning the VW brand to the yuppie-hip days of the early 90’s, VW has debuted the latest generation of the Jetta for the first time anywhere in the world

Chevrolet Debuts Impala, Monte Carlo
The current generation Chevrolet Impala and Monte Carlo haven’t exactly been auto industry darlings by any stretch of the imagination. Saddled with lukewarm styling, interiors, power, and handling; these two mechanically similar Chevrolets have often been relegated to the rental car fleet of also-rans. General Motors is trying to change all that with the 2006 Impala and Monte Carlo, with “stylish design, stirring performance and surprising details, including available V8 power.”

Pontiac Debuts Torrent, G6 Coupe and Convertible
Hot off the buzz following the recently-debuted Pontiac G6 sedan, GM’s “performance” division is out to reclaim the driving enthusiast buyers who may have strayed to other brands in the recent years. The latest Pontiacs to step to the plate at the Los Angeles Auto Show are two sleek G6 derivatives and a crossover based on the Chevrolet Equinox.

Those of you monitoring internet websites like AutomotiveForums.com and similar locations know that General Motors has long-been working on an answer to Chrysler’s popular retro-wagon, the PT Cruiser. Spy photos and official artist renderings have been floating across the web for months. So the debut of the new Chevrolet HHR at the Los Angeles Auto Show isn’t exactly a surprise to many, yet some are still a bit set aback at how similar this new Chevy looks to the venerable PT.
