Chevy's PT Fighter
Those of you monitoring internet websites like AutomotiveForums.com and similar locations know that General Motors has long-been working on an answer to Chrysler’s popular retro-wagon, the PT Cruiser. Spy photos and official artist renderings have been floating across the web for months. So the debut of the new Chevrolet HHR at the Los Angeles Auto Show isn’t exactly a surprise to many, yet some are still a bit set aback at how similar this new Chevy looks to the venerable PT.

SEMA2004: Ford Puts on a Show
If there was one single company with an overwhelming presence at SEMA 2004 in Las Vegas, that company would indisputably be Ford Motor Company. As a major sponsor of the show, the Ford name could not be escaped whether you were inside or outside of the Las Vegas Convention Center. Add in the grand Ford Motor Company “booth” bathed in blue and the substantial amount of new Mustangs scattered around the show and it is unmistakable that Ford came to play.

Man Sues Nissan After Running Over Daughter
According to a report from WFAA-TV in Dallas/Fort Worth, a man accidentally ran over his two-and-a-half year old daughter while backing up in his Infiniti SUV. Unfortunately, she did not survive. Now here’s where the story gets interesting. Over a month after the event, the family is now suing Nissan Motor Company – the parent company of Infiniti – because their vehicle was not equipped with Nissan/Infiniti’s optional rearview camera.

SEMA 2004: New Interior & Exterior Product Updates
Over the course of the weeklong convention the officials at SEMA take their time and select a several new products as this year's 'Best of'. To pick the best new products, the thousands of new releases displayed at SEMA are organized into several different categories. These categories include: the best new interior, best exterior product, performance products, 4X4 & off-road products, trailers and towing, marine products, etc. All in all there are fifteen different SEMA product categories. After digging up the SEMA picks, we took to the convention floor to personally take a look at these products and offer a little bit more information about our favorites.

SEMA2004: Honda and Acura Show Off New Products
The Honda and Acura brands are two names that have long-been associated with aftermarket products and the SEMA Show, and for obvious reasons. Throughout the 90s, young enthusiasts in Southern California and beyond picked Honda as the company of choice because of their simple, lightweight, and relatively affordable models like the Civic an Integra. They sparked a tuner revolution that has been likened to the muscle car heyday of Detroit.

SEMA2004: XM and Delphi Take on iPod
You might be asking, what does talk of XM Satellite Radio and iPods have do with SEMA Show coverage on an automotive site? Well, just think about it. How often do you actually drive in your car WITHOUT music or talk radio? Simply put, it makes sense for XM to be at SEMA, and 2004 marked their first official appearance at the show. However, the biggest draw to XM and Delphi’s booths at SEMA was not some newly signed celebrity. It was a new receiver that’s set to open up a whole new world for satellite radio and heat up the battle with Apple’s iPod.

2004 SEMA Show: A Wrap Up
The SEMA Convention in Las Vegas is the second largest convention held in the city, more than filling the enormous multi-floored three building venue. Try imagining five indoor football fields then stack some on top of each other, move them around a little bit, and then fill every square inch with after market automotive accessories. If you can picture that you've got a good head start on visualizing what the SEMA Convention is all about.

SEMA2004: Nissan Introduces 35th Anniversary 350Z
Arguably the most well known Japanese sports car, Nissan’s Z has long ago staked its claim amongst the isles of the automotive industry’s most important vehicles. Even Nissan will admit (happily) that the original 240Z was the vehicle that single-handedly put the company on the map in the United States.  Now, 35 years after the introduction of the first 240Z, Nissan took to the SEMA Show in Las Vegas to introduce a lightly retuned version of the 350Z to celebrate the occasion.

GM Debuts Hummer H3
General Motors officially took the wraps off its successor to the surprisingly popular Hummer H2 this week at the California Auto Show in Anaheim. The Orange County city home to such things as Mickey, Goofy, Angels, and Mighty Ducks welcomed an entirely different kind of beast to their convention center: the Hummer H3, the smallest Hummer to date. With gas prices ever-threatening to skyrocket and H2 sales all-but collapsing as its “fad period” passes, the new “baby Hummer” could not have come at a better time. And with all of the large SUVs seen lumbering around “the OC,” the debut location could not have been more appropriate.

Rising Cost of Healthcare Pressures Automakers
Nothing is more important to us. Nothing." Those were the words from General Motors chief finance executive John Devine to a packed crowd of auto industry insiders in a forum at Traverse City. The topic of question: healthcare. More to the point, the ever rising costs of healthcare and the possibility of it impeding on domestic carmakers and their ability to compete.
